  • Espionage turned into a leak: hackers posted data of thousands of LetMeSpy users online

If you think you are spying on someone, then in fact someone is spying on you.

LetMeSpy, a developer of spyware for monitoring smartphone activity, has been the victim of a cyberattack. Hackers gained access to the company's database containing personal information and correspondence of more than 100,000 users of the service.

According to a company representative, the attack occurred on June 26 and was discovered on the same day. The company says it immediately took action to fix the vulnerability and notified affected customers. However, the hackers managed to publish part of the stolen data on a thematic forum, where they offered to sell the rest of the information for 10 bitcoins.

LetMeSpy spyware allows users to spy on calls, messages, location, photos and other data on the phones of their children, partners or employees. To do this, you need to install the application on the target device and register on the company's website. At the same time, users do not receive the consent of the phone owners for such monitoring, which violates their right to privacy.

Cybersecurity experts believe that the LetMeSpy hack is a serious breach of personal data protection and can have negative consequences for victims of espionage. They also urge users to avoid using such services and check their phones for suspicious apps.
