  • Who is responsible for the cyberattack on the website of the Canadian Armed Forces?

The incident is being looked into by the military of the nation to ascertain how the attack occurred.

On Wednesday, a hacking group based in India claimed responsibility for a cyber attack that temporarily rendered the Canadian Forces website inaccessible. The issues began around noon and were fixed later that day, according to the Department of National Defense's director of public affairs, Daniel Le Boutellier.

Le Boutelier revealed to The Globe and Mail that while most mobile devices remained inactive, some desktop users continued to access the website.

According to a department spokesperson, the incident took place on a platform that is "separate and isolated" from internal networks and websites for the Department of National Defense and the Government of Canada.

The incident is being looked into by the Canadian Armed Forces, including the Navy, Special Command Groups, Air and Space Operations.

The hacker collective Indian Cyber Force, according to the Globe and Mail, claimed responsibility for the attack and posted screenshots of a broken page on the website for the armed forces on its pages on the social network X and on the Telegram channel.
