  • ChatGPT, PaperCut and Google Chrome bugs are on the CISA list of exploited vulnerabilities

CISA has warned companies to urgently fix the flaws to protect users.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Agency (CISA) has added an issue in its PaperCut print management software to its catalog of known exploitable vulnerabilities (KEV).

PaperCut is a print management software company for Canon, Epson, Xerox, Brother and other major printer manufacturers. PaperCut tools are widely used in government agencies, universities and large companies around the world.

PaperCut, a provider of print management software, said on April 19 that unpatched PaperCut MF/NG servers are being actively exploited in the wild.

Of the two discovered vulnerabilities, one ( CVE-2023-27350 ) with a CVSS score of 9.8 is critical. It is this bug that CISA has added to its catalog of known exploitable vulnerabilities. The flaw allows an unauthorized attacker to gain remote access to victims' systems.

In addition to the PaperCut vulnerability, CISA also added a zero-day vulnerability affecting Google Chrome (CVE-2023-2136) to KEV after Google released a security update.

The bug affects Skia, a tool used by the browser to render graphics, text, shapes, images, and animations.

Another added vulnerability, CVE-2023-28432, affects a tool called MinIO, which is widely used for machine learning, analytics, and more.

Threat intelligence company GreyNoise explained that the problem affects ChatGPT. Last month, OpenAI added a new feature to its header parsing tool that allows the chatbot to pull information from other sources.

“There are some security concerns about the sample code provided by OpenAI for developers who want to integrate their plugins with the new feature,” said GreyNoise's Matthew Remacle.

While there is currently no information to indicate that any particular actor is targeting ChatGPT example instances, experts have observed active exploitation of this vulnerability in the wild. The researchers added that any deployed ChatGPT plugins that use an outdated version of the MinIO tool could be at risk.

As with PaperCut, the Google and MinIO vulnerabilities should be patched by May 12th.
