  • DuckDuckGo Browser is finally available for Windows computers

The privacy-focused web browser has entered public beta.

DuckDuckGo, the owner of the popular search engine of the same name, has released its own browser for Windows. The beta version is already available for download without restrictions to everyone.

The DuckDuckGo web browser promises to protect users from third-party tracking, targeted advertising, search logging, and profiling. To achieve this effect, all kinds of security tools are activated by default.

In October last year, this browser was released for devices based on macOS. And only now, after almost nine months, the developers have finally "given birth" to the version for Windows, and with a much smaller number of errors than it was in the version for apple computers. As they say, "thanks for the beta test", but the release version is still far away.

“As of today, our desktop browser for Windows is officially in public beta — no invite codes, no waiting list, just a fast, lightweight browser that makes the web less creepy and cluttered,” the company says.
“DuckDuckGo for Windows is already equipped with almost all the privacy protections and day-to-day features that users know and trust in our browsers for iOS, Mac and Android. And every day our browser is approaching parity with other popular browsers, ”the developers say.

DuckDuckGo Browser, according to the company, has the following functionality:

Tracking Block - Blocks all third-party trackers that threaten privacy and provides superior protection against any tracking attempts.
Smart Encryption - Automatically update HTTPS with an open source crawler for every site a user tries to visit.
Cookie pop-up control - auto-hide pop-ups asking permission to use cookies, the request is denied by default, and other settings are available.
Fire button - deletes all browsing history and saved session information with one click.
Email Protection - DuckDuckGo's built-in email protection that cleans emails from advertising and profiling trackers before they even reach the user's regular inbox.
"Duck Player" is a built-in YouTube player that allows users to watch YouTube videos without ads or tracking.

DuckDuckGo claims that all of the aforementioned privacy protections and layered tracker blockers help their browser consume about 60% less data than Chrome, potentially speeding up web browsing as well.

The developers promise to add support for plugins to expand functionality in future versions of the browser. However, already at this stage, users can use the built-in password manager to manage their credentials.

The DuckDuckGo browser for Windows is already available for download on the official website. You can install it on any version of the popular "window system", starting with Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004).

We remind you that the browser is in beta testing. Any stability or performance issues are perfectly acceptable.
