The Google administration announced that restrictions on the placement of advertisements for "certified CBD therapeutic products" will be relaxed on the organization's services, including a number of social networks, against advertisers from Puerto Rico, California and Colorado. Why, of all the US regions served by the company, these regions were chosen to introduce such an “exception” from the organization’s service rules, Google management did not explain.
According to the published documents, the organization will allow other legal entities located in certain regions of the United States to enter into contracts to advertise CBD products. Applications will only be accepted from individuals who are able to confirm the presence of regional certification for the product offered for advertising. Accordingly, on devices in these regions, in the company's services, you can find messages advertising CBD extracts and nutritional supplements intended for internal and external therapeutic use.
In addition, the company also announced that ads for federally-approved medical product containing THC and CBD, Epidiolex, from Jazz Pharmaceuticals, will become available in these markets. Until now, the company's management has not allowed targeted and regional advertising for this product, which is formally approved for market release by the U.S. Sanitary Service as early as 2020.
At the moment, Google has already begun accepting applications from potential advertisers. The requests received will be processed and analyzed by Portland, Oregon-based consulting firm LegitScript, which already has extensive experience in this area. In particular, the organization will be engaged in confirming the legal status of persons submitting requests, as well as verifying the testimony of analyzes of samples of the products provided.
