The administrator under the nickname “Baphomet” assured that he would do his best to keep the platform alive and growing.
After the recent arrest of 21-year-old Conor Brian Fitzpatrick, founder and owner of hacking site BreachForums, known by the nickname "pompompurin", many hackers must have been wondering what will happen to their favorite platform. Clarity was made by one of the forum administrators under the nickname "Baphomet" (hereinafter "Baphomet"), who took over all the powers of Pompompurin.
Baphomet stated that he takes responsibility for the further activities of BreachForums, and that he has all the necessary access and authority to do so. The new administrator managed to restrict Pompompurine's access to the forum's infrastructure in order to protect its participants from possible interference from the FBI.
Conor "Pompompurine" Fitzpatrick has been charged with recruiting individuals to sell unauthorized access devices. Such an accusation is often made against cybercriminals.
The FBI stated that Fitzpatrick himself admitted at the time of his arrest that he was a Pompompourin and claimed that he was the owner and administrator of BreachForums all along. It is unlikely that we will know for sure whether Fitzpatrick really confessed to everything himself or someone contributed to this. One way or another, Pompompurine will appear in federal court in Virginia on March 24.
BreachForums has become a complete replacement for the previously popular RaidForums. This is a place where cybercriminals buy stolen data and sell information leaked during hacks and attacks. The website is currently down, but Baphomet has stated that once the forum is moved to the new infrastructure, it will be up and running again.
