  • El Paso Walmart Shooter Locked Away For Life

A Resounding Verdict Brings Closure To A Community In The Pursuit Of Justice

The mass shooter Texas man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to killing 23 people and causing harm to 22 other innocent lives in a deadly attack that happened at the Cielo Vista Walmart in El Paso, Texas, back in 2019.

The white gunman has admitted that the devastating event that occurred on the 3rd of August was highly due to his hate of Hispanic immigrants, which added numerous hate crimes to his list of offences.

The intention is clear from the manifesto “An Inconvenient Truth”, which he wrote and published on the internet just several minutes before he committed this heinous attack.

Ian Martinez Hanna, the Federal prosecutor, spoke in court after seeing the manifesto and stated that “this racist slaughter was premeditated with every single detail written in his creation.”

In the manifesto, the 24-year-old portrayed himself as a proud white nationalist, protecting his country against the evil Hispanic immigrants and showing how he was motivated to kill them all.

In addition, the defendant also admitted that he selected El Paso as the prime destination for his mass shooting event since it was a border city. The Texas man said his goal was to dissuade his targets, Hispanic immigrants, including Mexicans, from entering the country.

Patrick Crusius has pleaded guilty to all counts of violation, including 45 counts of violating the hate crime prevention act of Mathew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. and 45 counts of firearm offenses in relation to crimes of violence.

This led to the federal judge's ruling of 90 consecutive life terms, where the defendant was sentenced to a life sentence for every count in the indictment.

The families of the deceased mentioned that he showed no remorse or emotions in court and believed that Crusius only pleaded guilty to killing and wounding people because he was facing the death penalty.

Regardless, the federal judge ruled the 90 consecutive life terms with the possibility of still facing the death penalty, leaving people with some peace of mind.

Joe Spencer, the defense lawyer, spoke in front of the court and mentioned that the defendant takes all the responsibility for his crimes and that the evil deed that took multiple lives was done due to a severe case of mental illness.

Spencer added, “The only way out of prison for Mr Crusius is in a coffin. The sole question everyone should be asking is, will it be on man’s time or God’s?”

Crusius has also been sentenced for hate crime acts which caused bodily injury on 22 counts, attempted murder of 22 people who were injured in the mass shooting and 22 counts of using firearms in a federal violence crime.

All these hate crime charges and offenses together have made the mass shooting that took place in El Paso one of the largest hate crime cases ever dealt with or recorded by the U.S. Government.

In an attempt to let the murderer Crusius apologize, Stephanie Melendez, who just lost his father, Johnson, spoke in court and stated that “My dad passed while shielding my mum Kathy and their granddaughter, Kaitlyn, 9, from a shower of bullets. My father will be remembered, but you won’t!”

Merrick B. Garland, the Attorney General, also responded to this violent and hateful act. “No individual residing in this country should live in fear of becoming a victim to hate-fueled violence- that these individuals would be targeted just because of their origin or appearance.” he stated.

“The 90 consecutive life sentences that Crusius received will demand that he spends his entire life in prison for the heinous racist rampage he went on in El Paso. We are extremely grateful to the family members of the victims who spent this godforsaken three days with great courage and bravery, sharing with us the pain and devastation they have endured because of this man’s horrifying crimes.”

In addition, the Director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, also responded to the sentencing of life imprisonment of Patrick Cursius. “We stand here hopeful that the sentencing of this murderer brings a sense of justice to the bereaved family and the victims.”

The court documents clearly show that Patrick intended and admitted that he wanted to kill everyone he marked and shot, leaving no wounded. He knew and expected that Walmart would be filled with Hispanic origin or immigrants.

The room was filled with pain and tears but not silence as Patrick Crusius was escorted out from the courtroom. Family members of the deceased and victims yelled countless heartbreaking cries as he left, knowing he would never be able to breathe clean air again.

Dean Reckard, a devastated son of a victim of this mass shooting, yelled, “We will see you again, you coward! You don’t even have the decency to apologise or anything. You’re the scum of this world!”
