  • FTX exchange after bankruptcy robbed by hackers in the amount of more than $600 million

More than $600 million worth of cryptocurrencies have been stolen from the bankrupt FTX exchange in the past few hours, and malicious transactions continue.

The administrator of the FTX community chat sent a message to the exchange's official Telegram group stating that the bankrupt platform was hacked, and all applications are malware, and the site is not recommended to enter due to the risk of Trojan infection.

Hackers use trojans and auto-updates, and mass transfers are made from FTX clients' wallets to third-party addresses. Experts note that about $600 million has already leaked from users' accounts. Amid reports of a hack, the issuer of Tether blocked parts of the USDT associated with the address that was involved in the transfers.

Recall that this week the founder of the site, 30-year-old Sam Bankman-Fried, faced serious difficulties. First, FTX turned to its competitor Binance for help due to a liquidity crisis. Binance wanted to buy some of the company's assets, but later abandoned the potential deal. The previous Friday, FTX filed for bankruptcy and Sam Bankman-Fried resigned.

On Twitter, members of the cryptocurrency community quickly began to speculate that the outflow of funds could have been coordinated by a member of the Bankman-Fried inner circle, pointing out that the simultaneous and sophisticated FTX and FTX US hacks indicated a potential hack from within.

By midnight, the FTX login portal was down (the site is still online), giving users a 503 error when trying to log in.
