  • Raspberry Robin worm gnaws at telecom and government networks

The group behind the Raspberry Robin is simply testing its software, attacking telcos and governments in Australia, Europe and Latin America, to see how deep their worm can get into the network, according to researchers at Trend Micro.

Experts have been tracking the malware since September and warn that within a few months, Raspberry Robin has gained 10 levels of obfuscation and the ability to deploy additional payloads to confuse detection systems.

In October, Raspberry Robin infected thousands of endpoints. In recent and October attacks, hackers used USB as an initial infection vector.

Trend Micro experts said they will continue to monitor the activity of the malware.
