The UK's National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) has warned of an alleged ongoing threat of targeted phishing attacks from Russian and Iranian hackers.
The Russian group SEABORGIUM and Iranian TA453 conducted malicious campaigns throughout 2022 against individuals in the UK and other countries in order to obtain sensitive information, according to the center. According to the center, the attacks were not directed at members of the general public, but at specific industries such as science, defense, government organizations, NGOs, think tanks, as well as politicians, journalists and activists.
In this regard, the British Cyber Security Center published a summary of the methods of conducting phishing attacks and methods of protection against them. The agency also warned about the need to be vigilant, set strong passwords, improve access control, use multi-factor authentication, regularly update devices, etc.
